No Matter Where You are in the World

Going home is the best feeling of the day. It’s seeing the familiar faces, and being with souls who know your history. We may have travelled the world, some even went out to outerspace, but the best place and spot in this entire galaxy is that one space with those closest to your heart. It may be the kitchen, the couch or a small little coffee shop just around the corner, but that’s where intimate conversations begin, that engraves something deeper for you to build skyhigh memories you will cherish beyond these moments of immeasurable bondings.

No matter where you are in the world, still the best place is the place beside your beloved.

Enjoy Anawangin Cove in Iba, Zambales Adventure with Friends

My friend Haze (11 Feb 2012)

I believe it’s about time I write something about friends.  This picture you see on your right is the epitome of that word. Haze and I met at church in 2005. We became close early of 2006. Since then, we got stuck with each other. I myself don’t really understand how it all began, but as I remember correctly, we just started having lunch after the church service.

One day, she sent me a message and invited me to go with her to Anawangin Cove in Iba, Zambales. We used to talk about traveling and having trips together, and it was the best time for us to have our pre-Valentine celebration. 🙂 One of the things I adore about her is her ability to drag me to something I will not bother getting my self into. She has her ways of convincing me, sometimes without me really realizing it. She is adventurous and I used to be boring (used to be). We are different in so many ways but God has His mysterious ways of making two different souls meet and enjoy life together.

I always tell her she is not my best friend. I give that honor to God. I am deeply convinced she is not, for she is My Sister in Christ. It’s rare to have someone believe in you, accept you, and stick with you no matter what. Haze is that kind of person. Her loyalty makes her a bigger person than me (figuratively and physically – she’s 5’6″).

Years have passed by and we are still close. She’s been there running after me when I jumped off the FX when I thought I was being kidnapped. She knows my deepest thoughts and is trustworthy to keep it to herself. She’s one of the beautiful reasons I praise God everyday. To friends! Cheers, Haze!

Living Beyond the Walls of Intramuros

And the story is on.

I can still remember my first day at the university. I can still see how I looked and what I was wearing.  I went pass the gates of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and went to the registrar’s office to get my ID. It was the start of my 4 years, actually add another 2 years for my MBA.

My university life was the most exciting level for me. I enjoyed going to school, eventhough I would need to travel a full 2 hours. I like looking at the walls of Intramuros. I apprecite the dark-mossy texture of the walls. It’s old, dramatic and profound.  The very streets of Intramuros have a different feel into it. The atmosphere is calm, but you can sense the history of the people who lived during the time of Rizal and the other heroes of his time.  It became my second home and it was an honor to be educated within the walls that stood past battles and blood.

I hope we can build more “Intramuros.” It doesn’t just show our culture and distinct architectural styles, but it’s good to be reminded and surrounded by history. It makes us wonder and relive the passion of Filipinos for their country in those critical years. I believe, to see such would help us realize that we should be thankful of the freedom we have now and focus on what to do to maintain and cultivate the legacy they passed on to us.

Try to visit the walls.

Makati Skyline in the Philippines

I am a believer. Whenever people ask me if I want to go abroad to work, I would always say “Naah. I’ll stay here.”  Some pessimists wonder why not just go out of the country and earn more in greener pastures?

I just know it in my heart that no matter what we hear and see today around us, the sun will always shine in our nation and will be brighter than ever. I used to work in one of the most beautiful buildings in Makati – the RCBC Tower, and look through the clear glass windows at 4 or 5AM during my break and see the beauty and calmness of the sky above Makati. I thought, Philippines will have more of these. That was about five years ago, and I still believe it. Now, as I travel around Metro Manila, I see towering condominiums and buildings… and smell progress and development.

We can not always depend on what others say. If we know in our hearts we have the will and faith to see through everything, they may not come along and support every endeavor we have screaming within us, we just have to continue running and finish the race. I believe it is God-given. It’s called faith.

Cheers to all Filipino believers. 🙂

Travelling Around Manila

I spent my childhood and teenage life in just one school. It was approximately 15mins. on foot.  Basically, I was used to travelling within short distances and that was my life for almost 11 years.  But it was a totally different story when I graduated from high school. I received a letter from a certain university in the capital and there it was, my new route was already set.. new life and new adventure.

When I created this blog, I thought  I would fill it with my up and coming trips in and out of the country. But then, another epiphany came just minutes ago. I realized why not share with you guys how I lived and tell you stories of bizarre adventures I had within the metropolis and outside Mega Manila.

I must say, the four years I spent in the university is one of the most unforgettable episodes of my life. It has all the drama and adventure. It was freedom and responsibility at the same time.

I particularly enjoy my travels to and from my university. I enjoy my ride on LRT Line 1. (photo source: http://charliehotelalpha.blogspot.com) Eventhough the ride is tough and crowdy, which is understatement, the best thing about it is looking through the window at sunset and see the grandeur of the Manila skyline. It is breathtaking. Seeing the orange-violet-reddish horizon is worth it.
I must say I am happy to be living in this country. I appreciate the freedom, which not all countries around the world get to understand and experience. The smoke, the heat and crowd we pass by everyday are meaningful backgrounds of the city life. Every building and street has its own history to tell, and as we walk pass through the pavements and street corners, we make a mark and engrave our footprints on this very land… Manila knows we lived and cherished its streets.
